This first Triennale is held in collaboration with Miyawaka-City and Center for Designed Futures of Kyushu University, Kyushu University Faculty of Design. And Trial Holdings ,Inc., is also involved with and collaborating with this art project. We call for art work entries which express the idea of “Musubu (connect),” the power of the new era and raise the charm of the Miyawaka district. The winning piece will be displayed in the facilities of Next-generation CX which utilized the sites of a historical elementary and junior high school with the work of young artists from around Kyushu.

As things diversify and change advances rapidly, art will be an important part to change connections (Musubu) between the community, culture, company, administration with multidirectional viewpoints in next generation CX facilities in Miyawaka which are built to cross the border of the future.
We are looking forward to meeting young talented people who will bring new possibilities to art and foster the area and lead to the creation of a next era.

Miyawaka-City is located midway between Fukuoka-City and Kitakyushu-City.

In Miyawaka-City, many car-related companies built their factories and came to represent the Kitakyushu industrial area. However, it is suffering from out-migration of the younger generation and this resulted in depopulation which is becoming a problem in recent years.

Potential for Region and Art

“We would like to make Miyawaka-City a vibrant city once again.” Miyawaka International Triennale “TRAiART” began with that exclamation from local people.

The closed-down school which local children went to will be reborn as commercial and research facilities, and art work which young talent produces will be displayed. Art work encourages people to gather and produce new vigor.
